Mitchell KOA Journey welcomes you to their campground! They’re located between two exits of I-90, yet it’s peaceful and quiet. They’re outside of town a few miles, giving you a better view of the night sky.
NEARBY
The World’s Only Corn Palace helped to put Mitchell on the map. It was established in 1892 and has been at its present location since 1921. Each year, the structure is stripped and decorated anew! The murals are formed by thousands of bushels of corn, grasses, grains, and other products, each celebrating South Dakota’s bounty. The Palace is actually mentioned in the book 1,000 Places to See in the USA and Canada Before You Die, and many more travel guides.
Afterward, visit the Dakota Discovery Museum to learn about the local and regional history. Hear and see about the lives of the Plains Indians. Check out what it was like for fur traders. The Dakota Territory, Railroading, Farming & Ranching, and the 1930s Great Depression is quite interesting, and the museum is quite educational.
Later, maybe even the next day, take in the local art gallery, which displays works from various artists.
Outdoors enthusiasts enjoy Cabela’s, which is just minutes away and conveniently located off I-90 at exit 332.
